Passion is the driving force behind any successful project. That’s exactly what Medterra CBD started as: a project driven by a passion.
Friends J.P. Larsen and Jay Hartenbach were working separate jobs in different fields when they birthed the idea of Medterra back in 2016. Hartenbach worked in online marketing while Larsen had spent five years working for US-based hemp distributors. CBD was beginning to gain a lot of attention and traction at the time, and Larsen noticed a gap in the market for affordable CBD.
Larsen called Hartenbach, who knew his way around online marketing, with a proposition to team up. The concept was something Larsen was already experienced with: selling pure, wholesale CBD to manufacturers. The idea was that if they could sell it for cheaper, it would bring down the price point for many retailers, thus making it more accessible to the masses.

- Isolate CBD Oil by Medterra$39.99 – $199.99
They saw the demand, they leveraged their individual strengths, and they created Medterra.
The partnership proved to be fruitful. Medterra distributes its products to all 50 states and 6 different countries. Hartenbach kicked off the 2018 holiday season by increasing sales by $750,000. It’s considered one of the top five global CBD brands on the market, and they’re only getting started.
There are many reasons to reach for CBD, but the most common reasons are for insomnia, anxiety, and joint pain. Medterra has set itself as one brand with a gold standard of pain management, especially among athletes. The brand was featured in the Boston Globe and Runner’s World for its topical cooling cream and Golf Digest for its tincture, a testament to its widespread recognition.
Commitment to Quality
Medterra holds themselves to a high standard of purity. Their hemp is sourced from Kentucky, adhering to the strict guidelines of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Industrial Hemp Pilot Program. It’s GMO-free, third-party lab tested, and, unlike some other CBD providers, completely THC-free.
While some CBD products rely on the entourage effect for their potency, that’s not the case for Medterra. They use only 99%+ CBD isolate to ensure there are no psychoactive components to their products.
The CBD isolate extraction method for Medterra falls in line with national standards: solventless CO2 extraction. This high-pressure, low-temperature extraction process is favored among CBD brands for its promise of purity. It exposes hemp to supercritically cold CO2 to separate the active chemicals before bringing the heat back up. When CO2 returns to its gaseous state, it evaporates leaving only CBD extract.
This extract is turned into a variety of products. For Medterra, that includes tinctures, capsules, and topicals.
Last year, they released their wellness line.
The sleep tablets blend 25 mg of CBD with 10 mg of melatonin.
The monthly wellness formula uses traditional herbal supplements like valerian root and cramp bark with 25 mg of CBD.
For the many other moments in life that call for CBD, there is also the option for their gel capsules which come in 25 and 50 mg doses.
The latest in the development of the Medterra project is their pet product line. The company noticed an influx of request from pet-owners seeking a reliable CBD product for their furry friends. Larsen was a witness to CBD’s effects on animals when he gave it to his 12-year-old Chihuahua. After confirming the positive effects it had on his dog’s life, they proudly released a line of pet tinctures, aptly flavored chicken or beef.
“Medterra Pets will help ease your extended family members from pain, inflammation, and anxiousness among other conditions to live their best, natural life,” Larsen said.
Beginning this March, they’re expanding their pet prowess with flavored treats. Like the human-intended capsules, these treats make it easier to dish out the right dose depending on the size of your pet.
Medterra began with a mission to fill the gap. As a result, they turned into a world-class CBD provider.
They not only succeeded in their goal to present consumers with safe, pure CBD isolate products, but they made them easy-to-use and accessible for shoppers with specific needs in mind.
Finding a safe, affordable, THC-free brand of CBD became a whole lot easier through Medterra. Their line continues to grow, but they have earned their place as one of the most reputable brands. Their industry efforts continue to educate consumers and wipe away the stigma of cannabis and its naturally occurring potential.
