Should you Buy Dog CBD on Amazon?

You’re looking to buy Dog CBD for your pet and the first place you think of is Amazon. Amazon is the largest marketplace for all kinds of products in the world and its the natural place for anyone to look to buy Dog CBD as well.

But please, do not buy ANY CBD product from Amazon.

Takeaways

  • Amazon has banned the sale of CBD Products.
  • As a result, you will usually find low quality or fraudulent CBD products on Amazon.
  • Hemp Oil is sold on Amazon but Hemp Oil does not contain any CBD.
  • You can buy high quality Dog CBD Oil from Halso.

Amazon’s Policies on CBD

Amazon is extremely clear on its policies with CBD products. Sellers are completely prohibited from selling CBD on the marketplace. Here’s an extract from the policies where Amazon talks about it:

Listings for products containing cannabidiol (CBD) are prohibited, including but not limited to:

  • Full spectrum hemp oil
  • Rich hemp oil
  • Products that have been identified as containing CBD by LegitScript

If Amazon is so clear with its policies about CBD – why do we still find so many CBD listings on the Amazon website? Are these fake products?

So what is the Dog CBD Oil I find all over Amazon?

If Amazon is so explicit about its policies regarding CBD, you can be sure that the most genuine sellers will not be selling their products on the marketplace. This means that the CBD Oil you’ll find on Amazon will be sub-par because of one of 3 major reasons:

  1. Hemp Oil
  2. Random Oils
  3. Off-Brand Products

Hemp Oil

Try searching for CBD Oil on Amazon right now and I’m sure you’ll get the same results as I just did. The vast majority of listings will be for Hemp Oil. You’ll even find Hemp Oil for Dogs.

Amazon CBD Oil search actually gives you hemp oil

But wait – what’s the difference between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil? Don’t they come from the same plant?

When people talk about Hemp Oil, they’re actually talking about Hemp Seed oil. Hemp Seed oil is extracted by cold pressing Hemp Seeds which then releases a thick, dark oil. This oil does contain many nutrients, fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals but what it does not contain is any cannabinoids & terpenes.

Why?

Because CBD, terpenes & other Cannabinoids that we associate with the calming effects of CBD are not found in the seeds. These ingredients are instead found in the leaves and flowers of the Hemp plant – they are specifically found in the resin glands or trichomes of the plant.

So if you think that your dog is lacking some Omega fatty acids, you can give them some Hemp Oil. In fact, Hemp Oil is full of good fats and antioxidants and may also be good for your dog’s joint and skin health.

Random Oils

You’ll find several products on Amazon saying ‘CBD Oil’ or ‘CBD Oil for Dogs’ but when you actually read their list of ingredients, you’ll realise that they don’t actually contain cannabidiol.

For example, this was the ingredients list from one of the first results on Amazon for ‘CBD Oil Dogs’. You can clearly see that there are no Cannabinoids in this product.

If the labels & ingredients don’t contain CBD, then obviously there is no CBD in this product. We don’t understand what the seller has done to make this product rank for the search ‘CBD Oil for Dogs’. Nonetheless, we don’t know what these random oils contain and we wouldn’t want to take the risk with our dog’s health with a random oil that we found on Amazon.

Be Vigilant!

Off-Brand Products

How does Amazon find and remove CBD products from its website? They constantly crawl the website looking for the word CBD and all its related phrasings. Any company that uses the word ‘CBD’ in their product names or descriptions will immediately be removed from the platform.

So how do sellers get around this ban?

They use different language that hints at what they’re trying to sell. You’ll find products like ‘hemp extract’ or ‘hemp oil for pain and inflammation’ that are hinting at the fact that they’re actually CBD products. In fact, The Washington Post actually did a study to see if these kinds of products contain CBD Oil. They found that 11 out of 13 of these products did contain CBD! However, the level of CBD in these products was far lower than those found in genuine brands.

So, there you go – there’s a way to buy Dog CBD Oil on Amazon if you’re okay with taking a gamble on your pet’s health with an off-brand product that uses euphemisms to lure you into buying. You also don’t know if these products are using safe, non-toxic production techniques that are at the level of the legitimate CBD brands.
